Saint Maarten is a Carribean island. The capital is Philipsburg and English and Dutch are the official languages. The island is split into North and South: The North is the French side while the South is Dutch.

I spent a beach day trip here with Mom, Grandmom, and my brother as a cruise destination. We stayed in Philipsburg, which is on the Dutch side.

Once arriving, we rode a bus and walked through town. Many shops are there, but probably what’s more notable is their famous Guavaberry rum!

We walked probably a few miles until arriving at St. Maarten beach. The water here is clear with a turquoise color. There’s the option of sailing, swimming, jumping from a water trampoline, and chilling on a lawn chair.

The beach is also very close to the boardwalk. Mainly there’s restaurants/bars, beach houses, and shops. Ideal for partygoers or spring breakers!

I didn’t shop too much here, but rather enjoyed my time doing cannonballs in the water. It was hot anyways, so it felt nice and cool. My brother bought himself a Rastafarian hat though. Rasta man!

We stayed in Saint Maarten until after 2 to make it back to the cruise (because the cruise would leave by 4, and if you don’t make it in time, then you will be left behind!) We didn’t rush actually, and on the way back we tried a bit of the Guavaberry in a fruit smoothie. It was pretty good, and to me tasted like candy, like bubblegum! It’s worth a try!
